The Keio Line + Inokashira Line one-day pass (京王線・井の頭線一日乗車券) costs ¥1,000 for adults as of October 2026. It gives unlimited rides on the whole Keio network for one day. But the most expensive single Keio ride is ¥430, so a simple round trip never pays it off. You need at least three rides. For a Takao-only day, Keio’s own Takaosan Kippu is cheaper. Takao, Puroland and Yomiuriland all in one day is not realistic. Pick two at most.

This page covers what the pass is, the fare math, realistic one-day combinations, and the visitor-only sets that add the Takao cable car or a meal at Ukai Toriyama.

Mt. Takao is not in Tama City. It is at the end of the Keio Line in Hachioji. We include it here because the same Keio ticket links it to Seiseki-Sakuragaoka and Tama Center.

ValidityDay of purchase only
GatesWorks at Keio and Inokashira automatic gates, but not at the JR transfer gates

Keio notes that its discount tickets at station machines are sold on the day of use only, during limited hours. If you can’t find the ticket on the machine screen, ask the station staff.

Keio’s page mentions PASMO only. If you carry a Suica or Welcome Suica, buy the paper ticket at the machine. It does not cover JR, Odakyu, the Tama Monorail, buses, the Takao cable car or the Yomiuriland gondola. Those cost extra.

Why one round trip doesn’t pay off

Keio charges by distance. In its fare table (in force since October 2023), the highest adult fare on the network is ¥430, for 45–52 km. That is the fare from Shinjuku or Shibuya to Takaosanguchi. So even the longest round trip is ¥860, which is less than the ¥1,000 pass.

Official adult fares from Shinjuku (paper ticket / IC card, as of October 2026):

Shinjuku toOne wayRound trip (IC)
Takaosanguchi (Mt. Takao)¥430 / ¥430¥860
Keio-Hachioji (京王八王子)¥410 / ¥409¥818
Keio Tama Center (京王多摩センター, Puroland)¥360 / ¥356¥712
Seiseki-Sakuragaoka (聖蹟桜ヶ丘)¥360 / ¥356¥712
Keio-Yomiuri-Land (京王よみうりランド)¥320 / ¥314¥628
Chofu (調布)¥280 / ¥273¥546

Rule of thumb: the pass starts to save money once you add a third stop. Add up your actual rides with the fare search on Keio’s website before you buy.

Mt. Takao: the Takaosan Kippu is usually better

If Takao is your only stop, compare these (adult, from Shinjuku, as of October 2026):

OptionWhat you pay
Separate tickets: train round trip + cable car round trip¥860 + ¥980 = ¥1,840
One-day pass + cable car round trip¥1,000 + ¥980 = ¥1,980
Takaosan Kippu (round trip to Takaosanguchi + cable car or chairlift round trip)¥1,450
Takaosan Kippu with a one-way cable car or chairlift (walk the other way)¥1,090

The Takaosan Kippu combines a discounted round trip from your station to Takaosanguchi with a discounted cable car or chairlift ticket. The price depends on your starting station: it is ¥1,450 from Shinjuku and Shibuya. It is sold at every Keio and Inokashira station machine except Takaosanguchi, and as a QR ticket on TAMa-GO E-TICKET. It is not sold from December 31 to January 3.

On the mountain, the cable car and the chairlift cost the same: ¥490 one way or ¥980 round trip for adults. Takao Tozan Railway ended its round-trip discount on September 30, 2025. The cable car takes about 6 minutes and the chairlift about 12. The first cable car leaves at 8:00. The last departure changes by month. Both accept IC cards.

On weekends and holidays Keio also runs the Mt. TAKAO reserved-seat train between Shinjuku and Takaosanguchi. The timetable shows the fastest one taking 45 minutes. You need a seat reservation ticket on top of your fare or pass.

Realistic one-day combinations

Each of these takes a full morning or afternoon, and Puroland’s hours change by date. So two places is a comfortable day. Three is not.

PlanRoutePass worth it?
Takao morning + Whisper of the Heart afternoonShinjuku → Takaosanguchi → Seiseki-Sakuragaoka → ShinjukuYes, a little. ¥430 + ¥360 on the outer legs, and Takaosanguchi–Seiseki is at least ¥230 in Keio’s distance table, so at least ¥1,020 in fares. Add the cable car separately.
Takao + PurolandShinjuku → Takaosanguchi → (change at Chofu) → Keio Tama Center → ShinjukuFares pass ¥1,000, but the day is rushed. Do Takao early and check Puroland’s closing time for your date first.
Puroland onlyShinjuku ⇄ Keio Tama CenterNo. Get the Keio Amusement Passport (pass + Puroland, adult ¥4,460) instead. See our Keio + Puroland ticket guide.
Puroland + SeisekiKeio Tama Center → Seiseki-Sakuragaoka (Keio, changing at Chofu)The Amusement Passport already includes the day pass, so the Seiseki leg costs nothing extra by Keio.
Yomiuriland onlyShinjuku ⇄ Keio-Yomiuri-LandNo (¥628 by IC). Compare the Yomiuriland Amusement Passport below.
Takao + Puroland + Yomiuriland–Not realistic in one day. Yomiuriland and Tama Center are both on the Sagamihara Line, but each park takes most of a day, and Takao is at the far end of the other branch.

For the Seiseki part, see how to get to Seiseki-Sakuragaoka from Shinjuku. For a shopping add-on near Tama Center, see the Whisper of the Heart walk and Minami-Osawa outlet.

Yomiuriland: the gondola isn’t included

Keio lists Yomiuriland as 5 to 10 minutes by gondola from Keio-Yomiuri-Land Station, and says the gondola costs extra even with the Amusement Passport. Check the gondola’s operating status on Yomiuriland’s official site before you go.

Keio’s Keio Amusement Passport for Yomiuriland (one-day pass + Yomiuriland One-Day Pass) is sold at Keio station ticket machines for adults at ¥5,620 (high school students and under-18s ¥4,530, children ¥3,920) as of October 2026. Compare it with Yomiuriland’s own ticket price for your date.

Visitor sets on KKday and Klook: cable car, monkey park, or a meal

In May 2025 Keio made three digital sets for overseas visitors. You buy them in advance on KKday or Klook, and they work by QR code. No paper exchange is needed, and you can use them any time on the date you chose. Keio says these sets are only for foreign visitors. Residents of Japan cannot buy or use them.

Prices Keio announced at launch in May 2025 (check the current price on the sales site):

Set (Keio’s name)IncludesPrice at launchSold on
Mt. Takao + Keio 1-day Ticket – Ukai ToriyamaOne-day pass, cable car or chairlift round trip, meal voucher at Ukai Toriyama (“Charbroiled Beef & Chicken Course”)12+ ¥14,610 / 6–11 ¥6,260KKday
Mt. Takao + Keio 1-day TicketOne-day pass, cable car or chairlift round trip, entry to Mt. Takao Monkey Park & Wild Plant Garden with a monkey feed voucher12+ ¥2,250 / 6–11 ¥1,180KKday, Klook
Keio Amusement Ticket – Yomiuri LandOne-day pass, Yomiuriland One-Day Pass18+ ¥5,810 / 12–17 ¥4,720 / 6–11 ¥3,960KKday, Klook

The two Takao sets also come with a face towel voucher at Keio Takaosan Onsen Gokurakuyu (for bathers) and a 5%-off coupon for Keio Department Store in Shinjuku. Children under 6 ride free.

How to read these:

  • Mt. Takao + Keio 1-day Ticket (¥2,250): the pass plus the cable car alone would cost ¥1,980, so the extra ¥270 buys the monkey park entry and coupons. It is good value if you will ride Keio again that day, or want the monkey park. If you only go to Takao and back, the Takaosan Kippu (¥1,450 from Shinjuku) is still cheaper.
  • Yomiuri Land set (¥5,810 at launch): this was more than the ¥5,620 paper Amusement Passport sold at station machines. The digital set’s advantages are buying before your trip and not needing a ticket machine.
  • Ukai Toriyama set: the train, cable car and meal are all paid in one purchase made in English before your trip. Ukai Toriyama’s own site also has English pages and online booking, so compare the set price with booking the course directly.

Keio lists the official sales pages in its news release on the visitor tickets.

You can also book the Keio Line ticket for Mt. Takao on Klook.

About Ukai Toriyama

Ukai Toriyama (うかい鳥山) is a restaurant in Hachioji near Takaosanguchi. It serves charcoal-grilled food cooked over an irori hearth. Its official site has English and Chinese pages and takes reservations online or by phone.

  • Getting there: a free shuttle bus leaves from in front of Takaosanguchi Station at :00, :20 and :40 past each hour. It returns from the restaurant at :10, :30 and :50. You don’t need to book the bus.
  • Hours and closed days: they change by season. Check the calendar on the official site.
  • With the KKday set: before you buy, check on the product page how the meal time is booked and what happens if the restaurant is full on your date. We could not confirm this from Keio’s release.

A practical order for the day: take the cable car up in the morning, walk, come down by early afternoon, then catch the shuttle to lunch or an early dinner.

Before you buy: checklist

  • Count your rides. Two rides: buy single tickets or use IC. Three or more: the pass may pay off.
  • Takao only? Get the Takaosan Kippu.
  • Puroland? The Keio Amusement Passport already includes the day pass.
  • Not a resident of Japan? The KKday/Klook digital sets are open to you. Pick the date carefully, because the ticket only works on that date.
  • Using a Suica? Buy the paper day pass. Keio only mentions PASMO.
  • Your IC card covers transfers that aren’t on Keio. See travel prep for a Tama trip.

Prices and hours change. Check the official site before you go.
